Wanderlust 2017 online workshops! Wanderlust is whole year long journey – an online event offering videos from 24 guest teachers and 2 resident teachers on weekly basis (each one is full length, high quality and downloadable) with access to the Wanderlust Community with a supportive and friendly atmosphere. In class you will create sample cards and watch pages of all the new products, learn how to use them, and then create a project using all of these fabulous new products.

Create the perfect keepsake album featuring the ‘Rugged’ paper collection from Authentique Paper. In class you will completely transform this heavy duty, blank album with the ‘Rugged’ line of papers, then add finishing detail touches with Finnabair products. Learn how to create your own embellishments for the front cover and spine of the album using Iron Orchid Designs Paper Clay and Molds, then add these to your album with some of the new products from Finnabair and your favorite inks from Imagine. As time permits, you can begin embellishing and add texture to your album pages.

Mixed media meets scrapbooking in this class where you will create this stunning shadow box featuring the ‘Rugged’ paper collection from Authentique Paper while creating stunning texture with the newest products from Finnabair and your favorite inks from Imagine/Tsukineko. Learn how to transform a shadow box into a textured work of art, then use these same techniques for creating a stunning layout. If you would like to add your own photo in class, bring an image that measure 2¼ x 3½ inches in size to fit inside of the frame.

It’s time to bring a little bit of attitude to the kitchen with the “Saucy” collection from Authentique Paper! In this class you’ll use this paper collection as the foundation for creating a fun canvas that would be the perfect decor to add to your home. You’ll also learn how simple it is to transform everyday object quickly and easily to incorporate into your projects using inks from Imagine/Tsukineko and Finnabair paints. There’s a more ‘mild’ (traditional) side to this paper collection that can be used for this project if you’re not feeling quite so sassy and ‘Saucy’.

Santa Rosa  2 Day Workshop  April 5th & 6th 2017  9am – 4pm

The Creative Assemblage is more than a piece of artwork – it’s a creative journey, a festival of multiple layers of texture, stunning colors and hidden treasures combined to make this truly personalized diptych. This technique driven class will begin your exploration into the world of mixed media arts, working with a variety of mediums and materials to create the finished masterpiece.

Some of the techniques covered in this two day workshop include:

  • Working with resin to learn how to set a bezel to be incorporated into your artwork
  • How to create photo transfers onto metal, which will be set into the hidden shrine on the front of the diptych
  • Working with fabric to create a stunning dimensional background for the inside panels
  • Fundamentals of mixing paints, inks and texture mediums and how to incorporate inclusions

Sometimes the most stunning artwork is revealed in the smallest pieces of art – that’s the concept behind this class where you will create a mini shrine created from a metal box to hold all your treasures to create a piece that can be worn as a necklace or incorporated into another larger assemblage piece. In this evening workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of working with a variety of mixed media techniques including creating texture, layering, and working with many different mediums to create this miniature statement piece with products from Imagine/Tuskineko and Finnabair.

In the Minneapolis evening workshop, we will create your Talisman piece finished with a simple chain necklace. For the all day workshop in Minneapolis, you will create your Talisman piece along with learning how to create the beautifully beaded ball and chain necklace.

Introduce yourself into the wonderful world of creating stunning pieces of artwork on a smaller scale with this evening workshop, focusing on mixed media techniques that can easily be adapted onto larger pieces of artwork. Choose from a variety of Relics and Artifacts blank resin pieces created by artist Sandra Evertson as the base and learn how to create a stunning necklace using a variety of colors, texture pastes, and other found objects with products from Imagine and the Finnabair line of products.

The Funky Fiber Journal

Santa Rosa Evening Workshop  April 7th 2017  6pm – 9pm

Built from scratch, students will explore the basics of book making in this class with an easy to replicate formula for creating any sized book that can be used as a journal, photo album or more. Students will use texture pastes, layer with inks on paper and metal and create embellishments for the book spine using inks and texture mediums from Imagine/Tsukineko. The front of the book features a beautiful bezel set with resin. Excellent class for both beginners and advanced students!

Sometimes there’s more to see in a smaller piece of artwork – that’s the idea behind this class, a great introduction into mixed media! Students will begin by shaping fabric with Sculpture Medium to create the background, then add texture pastes and color to the entire diorama frame and embellishments.

Mechanical Frames

Take mixed media to a new level with this all day class! First we’ll add layers of color and texture onto our background frames, including working with Sculpture Medium with fabrics. Next you’ll be introduced how easy it is to mould your own embellishments with paper clay to incorporate into your work with your other embellishments. To finish our frames, you’ll discover how easy it is to create your own texture pastes and add inclusions for stunning results while adding more color and texture with your favorite Imagine products. The completed frame can either be hung on a wall, or the built in stand allows this piece to decorate your table top or perfectly on a shelf. Select color palettes available for this class or use patina or rust pastes.

What better way to introduce your customers to the newest Finnabair products than letting them try them HANDS ON. Here’s your chance to get them hooked on the new Patina Pastes, Sparks acrylic paints, Waxes, Stone Effects Pastes and more! Students will complete a small mixed media project in class and the opportunity to create their own swatch sheets with all of the colors of these fabulous products including how to sheets for creating a variety of different effects with the new Patina Pastes.

It’s time to take mixed media into the kitchen with this stunning project that upcycles an old muffin tin! This class is perfect for all skill levels, giving students the confidence to take their mixed media artwork to an entirely new dimension. We’ll begin by creating backgrounds in each individual holder from fabric shaped and stiffened with Sculpture Medium. Next the background of the tin face will be created with stamps, collage and stencils using products from Imagine and Finnabair. A rusted finish will then be applied to the background, highlighted with waxes, mica powders, glass glitter, micro beads and more! Once the background has been set, students will begin to create embellishments with Iron Orchid Designs paper clay and molds, adding these creations to the Art Mechanicals and other found objects.

Transform upcycled metal slide mounts into a double sided work of art! This is another great introductory class on how to successfully work with ICE Resin and mixed media, just on a smaller scale that can be worn using a variety of different products including those from Imagine.

Everyday Crafting

Who says that rubber stamp inks are just for paper crafting? Learn how to use the wide range of inks from Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko to create your own personalized t-shirt (or other fabric pieces), along with how to successfully color and stamp on glass to create your own vase that can also be used as a candle holder.
