“Boysterous” encapsulates the different voices in nature and cultural references that are heard and seen. A smaller textured canvas with found objects (hidden image in camera lens) rests on top of an encaustic collage of imagery and ephemera inside a textured wood frame.

The main canvas is a cornucopia of textures and colors, layered with ephemera that includes a vintage tarot card and European cityscape. The foot base of a sewing machine is beneath the photo lens, which reveals an image of the Arc de Triumph inside. The lower right of the canvas has a crackled print on top of upcycled corrugate, with a vintage pocket watch casing (which does open!) holding a Victorian pull.

The scrumptious encaustic collage features the name of this piece revealed beneath the canvas, with imagery that includes the loving couple, garden scenes including a photograph taken from Giverny, along with other ephemera that coordinates with the theme.

A hand painted wood frame with metallic highlights keeps this treasure trove of found objects together for displaying beautifully wherever it may hang!

 

Special Care for Encaustic Artwork…

Encaustic artwork is created with a combination of beeswax (note for those who are allergic) and damar resin. This art form has existed for centuries, but because of the natural properties of the wax it does require to be displayed out of direct sunlight in a temperature controlled environment.
