Happy 4th of July

posted in: Art New Wave | 9

It’s time to get a little patriotic with this fun necklace!  And what better way to celebrate the 4th of July than with a great necklace that shows that American spirit and with a little added bling will be sure to get noticed.  There is also a companion necklace that can be found on the ArtNewWave Facebook page that has the same construction, just a different shape and papers used to create it.

Start with coloring the Hobnail Rectangle bezel with ICED Relique Garnet.  Apply the Ice Medium onto the bezel with a brush, then sprinkle on the Garnet Relique powder.  Tap off the excess then heat set with a tool.  I like to apply the Relique to the front and sides, heat set, allow to cool completely and then repeat on the backside.  One the bezel is complete, I apply a thin layer of ICE Resin onto the backside of the bezel along with the sides.  Note that when applying the resin onto the sides to apply a thin coat to avoid it from dripping.  Once complete set, repeat this for the front of the bezel.

While waiting for the bezel to set, I started to work on my layering papers for the background of the bezel.  I used the coordinating Spellbinders’ die to cut the “Pride” paper to the appropriate size and then edged the pieces with Memento Luxe Love Letter.  Apply at least two coats of GlazOn to the front and back of the papers along with the sides.  This will seal the paper for when they are set into the bezel.

Adhere the background papers into the bezel, along with the crystal star.  Begin to add the ICE Resin into the bezel, adding Silver Glitter and the Opal Shattered Inclusions as you are going along.  Allow the bezel to full cure.

To finish the bezel, add crystals to the bottom loop of the bezel and attach the bezel to the necklace.
