It’s that time of the year when the leaves start changing- and those vivid earth tone colors come to life. I have to admit that it’s my favorite time of the year! We’ve all seen those home decor letters and words, but to be honest they always look too “frilly” in polka dots and pastels for my taste.
Follow these instructions for creating your own letters or other wall decor…
Start by applying VersaMagic Hint of Pesto inkpad directly onto the paper maché letter, covering the letter completely. With an InkBlusher, sponge VersaMagic Spanish Moss onto the letter to add as a darker highlight. These greens are the base to your other colors and texture.
Now it’s time to start adding more color to your letters! Working from lighter to darker, add the following VersaMagic colors with an InkBlusher as desired: Gingerbread, Red Brick, Eggplant and Jumbo Java.
Add some texture to those “flat” letters by liberally spraying GooseBumps Shimmer Texture Spray over all your letters- don’t be shy, spray them good! After this project, you’ll understand why I spray anything and everything with GooseBumps to add some texture.
Of course you need to add some shimmer to those letters- and my “go to” spray is Fireworks. And don’t worry about your letters being on the darker/intense in color because I personally think that Fireworks actually shows up better on darker colors! Spray Fireworks in Bamboo Leaves onto the letters and wipe the excess off of the GooseBumps with a paper towel and watch that shimmer shine!
