It’s that time of the year when all of the new releases are shipping from the Creativation Show at the end of January! I’d like to share and inspire you with a few new projects that I’ve been working on…
Have you had a chance to experiment with the new Rugged paper collection from Authentique Paper!?! I always look forward to the January releases from Authentique because there’s always at least two ‘masculine’ releases that I can really have some fun with, and this year Sam and the gang didn’t disappoint!
I created this shadow box using the Rugged collection which I’ll be teaching at Scrapbooking Forever in Westlake Village CA on March 25th. You’ll also have a chance to explore the new Patina Pastes and Waxes from Finnabair while coloring and texturing a blank shadow box before working on your layout.
If memory albums are more your style, the Rugged collection can be used for that as well! This is one of the Memory Hardware Albums from Prima that I used the Rugged collection as my background on all of my pages. I then created the front flourishes and spine embellishment using paper clay and molds from Iron Orchid Designs (Prima) then colored them with Finnabair paints and the new waxes.
And you have the chance to get creative and make your own Rugged Memory Album at Scrapbooking Forever on March 25th – I’ve created two classes especially for that day using the Rugged collection.
If mini albums are more your style, check out the Mini Memory Book (new from Prima) that I created using the Dapper paper collection from Authentique! I absolutely love this 50’s throw back paper with the awesome prints from that decade including martinis and shaker along with old televisions and records.
Perfect Day Scrapbooking in Huntington Beach CA will be hosting this class on March 26th where you’ll use the Dapper collection through out your mini album and then create a fabulous cover including a pocket watch and domed baubles featuring your favorites pieces from Dapper.
Looking for a line of paper that has a little more attitude? Well look no further because the Saucy paper collection from Authentique is the answer! Also a 50’s throw back, this line shows what happens when things in the kitchen get a little spicy with great quotes and images. If you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen with this fun line of paper. If you don’t like things quite as spicy, the Saucy line does have a more ‘traditional’ side of things.
I created a fun canvas using this paper, along with some kitchen utensils colored to match the colors used in this line of paper. And don’t worry – if you just HAVE to create something with this line of paper you can join me at Perfect Day Scrapbooking to make your own.
There’s been so many new releases from Finnabair that honestly I haven’t had time to play with all of them yet! Some of the fabulous new products include:
- Patina Effects Paste
- Stone Effects Pastes
- the luxurious Waxes in three different finishes
- Sparks Acrylic Paints
Not quite sure where to start with these new products? Don’t you worry – I’ll be at Scrapbooking Forever on the evening of March 24th to introduce you to all of these fabulous new products! You’ll get the chance to create your own color swatches to take with you and make a fun mini diorama at the same time. I’m also in the process of creating some quick video tutorials of the new products so be sure to keep an eye out for those.
I’ve had a few people email me inquiring about my Creative Assemblage two day workshop at Art Is You next month – YES, there are still openings available to join me for this class or any of the others I will be teaching at Art Is You. This is such an incredible opportunity to join your creative tribe for discovering that artist waiting to be discovered. You can view my full Art Is You Workshop Schedule here.

This technique driven class will begin your exploration into the world of mixed media arts, working with a variety of mediums and materials to create the finished masterpiece.
Some of the techniques covered in this two day workshop include:
- Working with resin to learn how to set a bezel to be incorporated into your artwork
- How to create photo transfers onto metal, which will be set into the hidden shrine on the front of the diptych
- Working with fabric to create a stunning dimensional background for the inside panels
- Fundamentals of mixing paints, inks and texture mediums and how to incorporate inclusions
Don’t miss this opportunity to begin your creative journey with the many techniques that you can incorporate into a variety of future projects.
